2 THE ADVOCATE MESSENGER Danville Kentucky Thursday September 24 1987 Pioneer Vocational Deaths may expand services into old Coke plant Pioneer Vocational Industrial Services Inc has made an offer to buy the old Coca Cola distribution plant on Stanford Road Jack Godbey director of the agency announced the plan at meeting of the Danville Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission The agency requested that the plant site be rezoned from highway commercial to industrial Godbey said in an interview after the meeting that Pioneer Services made the offer to buy the plant a few weeks ago to represen tatives of Coca parent com pany Proctor and Gamble One of the contingencies in a tentative sale agreement is that the proper ty be reclassified to an ap propriate zone for Pioneer Ser activities Godbey said Godbey would not disclose how much the board has of fered Proctor and Gamble for the plant which the Cincinnati based firm closed nearly two years ago Pioneer current plant on Sixth Street has 15000 square feet the old Coca Cola plant has 23000 square feet Godbey said the board currently plans to occupy both buildings it stands now we plan to sell our current building We think we can make good use of both he said Pioneer Services is a non profit concern which provides employ ment job training and social ser vices for some 50 people including handicapped persons and those in volved in post injury rehabilita tion Employees work under con tracts with private firms and government agencies After asking Godbey a few ques tions regarding the plans for the building the commission followed its policy of automatical ly tabling a decision on zone change requests for at least 28 days In other matters the commission: to withhold an official response to Boyle County iscal decision Tuesday to pro ceed with adoption of a county or dinance governing land use in rural areas rather than pursue a compromise plan proposed by the commission The court said it would send a letter notifying the commission of its decision and the commission said Wednesday it would not reply until it receives the official notification The court set Oct 13 as the date for giving first reading to its or dinance under which rural lan downers would have the option of having their property remain A where five acres is the minimum size of a residential lot or be rezoned to A 2 where one acre would be the minimum The com mission plan would place the southwestern part of the county in a zone where one acre would be the minimum and the rest of the unincorporated areas in a zone where five acres would be the minimum but where landowners could sell off less than that if their applications earned enough points on a point system preliminary and final plats by Shelbyville developer Albert Moffett for the construction of a 24 unit apart ment complex on ifth Street in Perryville Moffett plans to build 12 one bed room units and 12 two bedroom apartments in a complex which would be called Elmtree Apartments Ltd the preliminary plat for development of a 19 lot single family residential subdivi sion next to Bluegrass Estates subdivision The proposed development will be called Bluegrass Meadows Roger Cox to withdraw a preliminary plat to develop 95 acres on Bluegrass Pike into a residential subdivision The plat for Happy Valley arm subdivision called for the agriculturally zoned property to be developed in five acre lots It is legal for landowners to sell off one five acre tract of farmland for residential use however the com mission said it apparently is il legal to develop subdivisions with five acre lots in agricultural zones Conservation Corps plans reunion CORBIN ninth annual Civilian Conservation Corps reu nion will be held Oct 24 at Cumberland alls State
